Seasons 1-8 is when shippers submit bids on two shipments on UShip in a reverse auction format. Bids are generally made with remarks about the probable costs and risks and the motives and abilities. If the time-limit of an auction has expired the auction is usually awarded to the lowest bidder; at the client's discretion, however, it may be awarded to a higher bidder with a better average feedback rating from previous customers. To break up any ties, feedback ratings are used. In season 9, shippers receive their loads via the services of a shipping broker. They don't see the bidding process. Instead winners load their cargo, and then try to deliver it without damage within the timeframe of the recipient or the client. The feedback ratings of clients are shown after the loads have been delivered. The show concludes with the revenue of each shipper and expenses. To determine the profits or loss the bid amount is subtracted. Sometimes, shippers decide to transport additional loads in the same trip. The money is added to the total. The shipper might not be able finish the job due to safety issues or load size. On occasion, one shipper may enlist the help of a different person to assist in the completion of an assignment. The shippers then decide between themselves how to split the proceeds. The progression of each shipment can be delayed by hilarious criticisms from other shippers in seasons 1-8.
