Lee Roy Selmon has a background that is a combination of family scholarships football with community service. His first family is that Selmon is the eldest of nine kids who were raised within Eufala by Lucious Selmon. The second football was that he is the youngest of three brothers to play with Oklahoma. All three of them were All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey, Lee Roy, and Lucious Jr. Dewey started the 1973 season. Lee Roy won the Outland and Lombardi Awards as the nation's most effective lineman. The three years he was the team's starter, Oklahoma finished 32-1-1 and also won two championships at the national level. In 1975, he received the third scholarship of his career and was recognized as an National Football Foundation scholar-athlete. Selmon received a bachelor's degree from the University of California, Berkeley. Lee Roy was involved in voluntary work for 10 hours a week throughout his college years. He moved to Tampa following college. He playing for the Buccaneers for nine years and was three-times all-pro. His career in business began. The first position he held was a Account Relations Officer with First Florida Bank, Tampa. He was a member previously for the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. There's no surprise that Lee Roy was honored when the Junior Chamber of Commerce designated Lee Roy as among the top 10 young men across the nation. Lee Roy was 6'2" tall and weighed 265lbs during his time playing college football. The year 1975 was the first time he was on the team. team. In 1993, he became the associate director of Athletics at University of South Florida. In 1988, he was voted into the College Football Hall of Fame. The same year, he also was a part of an appearance in the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame and the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The Oklahoma City Chapter of the National Football Foundation in 1989 awarded its Distinguished American Award to his parents Mr. and Mrs.. Lucious Selmon Sr. Henry Bellmon, the governor of Oklahoma presented it.
